I’ve made the decision to close down the company.
It’s been a tough 12 months, and it feels like I’ve tried every possible solution to keep things going, but nothing has worked.
For those who don’t know me, I’m Huda. I’m Somali, and I wanted to share something that has been part of my life since I was very young. I came up with the idea for this business when I was 18, but I didn’t start selling online until I turned 20. I was actually the first person to sell qasil powder online. I still remember setting up Etsy, Amazon, and Shopify accounts, back then, if you searched “Qasil,” only pictures of basil would come up.
Next month, I’ll be turning 29. I’ve spent my entire twenties dedicated to one single product.
We’ve had incredible highs, going viral on social media, growing a team of 15 people, and building something truly special. My proudest achievement has been creating our team in Hargeisa. From the very beginning, my goal was to ensure Somali women benefited from the success of qasil powder. We made that happen by setting up our head office and manufacturing in the homeland.
When I started at 18, people laughed at me. They said things like, “No one will buy this,” and “Why would anyone outside our community use qasil powder?” But I didn’t give up. My love for beauty and my belief in qasil kept me going. I knew that once people tried it, they’d fall in love with it too.
But I’ve reached a ceiling, and it’s time to close this chapter.
I’m deeply grateful to everyone who has supported us and trusted us with their skin. I still can’t believe how far we’ve taken this. Qasil powder has become a global beauty staple, and as it continues to grow, I hope people always remember to credit Somali women for introducing this incredible product to the world.

What you did was truly amazing. I shared your product with everyone I know needed to hear about it in my Southern African community. I really hope one day you are back on the scene. We need an African giant in the cosmetics because this works for our skin. I came to order more for the new year and it feels so wrong trying to buy from anyone else but you.
