As many of you know, Huda Organics has joined the Show the Love campaign. This campaign is organised by The Climate Coalition. Show the Love runs through the month of February and is focused on showing decision-makers that real and urgent climate change policies need to be introduced NOW!
The Show the Love campaign encourages all participants to use the power of green hearts to express their own personal pledges, requests, and demands for climate action. One of the main tenets of Huda Organics is sustainability. For this reason, we are encouraging our customers to share their requests, concerns, and demands for climate action using the hashtag #qasilhearts. We will collect all of your comments and submit them on your behalf to local MPs. Your voice matters! Let it be heard!
In the spirit of this campaign, we have been showcasing notable climate activists and organisations on our social media.
One of the most formidable climate change organisations is SustainUS.
SustainUS is a youth-led, non-profit, nonpartisan advocacy organisation established in 2001. SustainUS is dedicated to expanding youth participation and promoting youth empowerment in the sphere of sustainable development. SustainUS works with young people between the ages of 13-29 and is one of the only organisations of its kind that is entirely led by young people. SustainUS focuses on mobilising young people in the USA to push political leaders, multilateral institutions, and other global actors to stand on the side of climate justice.
SustainUS believes that global institutions operate primarily with profit over people in mind. For decades, multinational corporations, fossil fuel companies, oil magnates have been able to buy access and power to the political elites. This power allows them to set the political agenda so that it suits their best interests, rather than the interests of the average person. As the expansion of sustainable energy runs contrary to the interests of the world’s fossil fuel companies, climate policy suggestions are stifled before they can even be drafted into proper legislation.
To make matters worse, the politicians and global actors that are the most susceptible to fossil fuel lobbying are often granted the biggest seats at conferences, trade agreements, and treaties addressing climate change. This inaction means that the most pressing climate issues of our time are not only being ignored, but becoming more urgent.
SustainUS empowers young people to use their voices to demand a seat at these conversations and policy-making events so that their concerns are not only heard but acted upon. SustainUS is dedicated to building youth leaders that can promote climate justice movements in their hometowns and around the world to encourage decision-makers to enact policies that actually meet the urgency of the climate crisis.
These youth leaders push the message that we need to kick out these corporate polluters, fossil fuel billionaires, and finance executives from our international institutions and decision-making rooms. Their goal is to ensure that those most affected by climate change are the ones chairing and leading policy discussions across the world.
